I get so excited about simple recipes that call for shopping no further than my pantry and use seasonal, fresh ingredients.

Strawberries are finally in season, so I decided to make this simple torte. I haven’t tasted it yet but it’s ready and it looks light and delicious.

In particular I made it as a way to thank my husband for letting me sleep in all week while I was fighting a cold, and eating cereal for breakfast every single day. Thanks, sweetheart! torte

A little bonus: my grandmother used to say that when you taste a fruit newly in season you get to ask a small wish…it’s a little tradition of mine that makes it taste even sweeter.
