A couple of weeks ago was my husband’s birthday. I knew I wanted to make him a coconut cake (we all need something that tastes sunny in February), but every recipe I found online seemed too rich and complicated to me. I tend to prefer recipes with fewer ingredients, where possible.
I was surprised and intrigued when I found this recipe that belonged to Emily Dickinson!
I think it came out just wonderful: not too rich and with a pound cake consistency. Of course, being a birthday cake, I contaminated by smothering it in coconut frosting. I really liked how the two worked together since the cake wasn’t too sweet.
Plus, it was fun to tell the birthday boy who gave me the recipe…
Sooooo, as it keeps snowing heavily outside, I’ve been staying inside fretting about my postpartum trip to the beach. And who wouldn’t? It’s a terrifying prospective.
I haven’t owned a one-piece swimsuit since I was 14 (probably the last time I felt this body-conscious) and I knew it was going to be hard to find the correct one for the funny proportions that pregnancy is giving me. I hope I found my ally on Ebay, this J Crew strapless tulle tank. It should cover all the basic needs I will have, namely:
- Size 2 body, size D chest (to say the least, I will be nursing, too!)
- Ruching to conceal post-baby pouch.
- Strapless to beat those tan lines.
I swear I feel better already. I just hope it fits (not that I can try it on at 7 months pregnant)…
